just last night i was having an i'm-about-ready-to-give-up moment -- or day, or week...
it's been a lot of work since i made the conscious decision to try to make this my full-time job. this ain't easy -- that's for diggity-damn sure. 12 hour days six or seven days a week is a lot of work and sometimes i get booey-hooey when i've had a tough week or two or three.
but then something happens like this d*s post, and i realize that i'm doing what i want to be doing and that i am happy with my work and that other people like it too... and it gives me a little push of encouragement.
now, if only that rich benefactor would come along...

I am a newbie to the embroidery world and wanted to see where you get some of your materials; hoops, fabric, threads, designs, etc. I LOVE your blog it's so inspiring! I have never seen anything like it.
hi catherine -- thank you so much for the compliments! i get my supplies from local fabric and embroidery shops (too small to have websites or on-line ordering), but embroidery supplies are pretty easy to come by.. check your local fabric and craft stores (even the bigger chains like michaels and jo-ann fabrics) for embroidery floss and hoops and fabrics. also check thrift and vintage a flea markets -- they can be great for unique hoops - the plain wooden hoops from these places are often way better than what you can get in the new craft stores - they don't make them like they used to. as for designs - use your imagination - you don't have to use marketed, packaged "embroidery designs;" you can use any drawings or graphics you like (just be careful of copyright issues, though!). get yourself some transfer paper and then you can trace the outline of the desired graphic directly onto your fabric! if you need any other help or have other questions about embroidery supplies please feel free to email me!!
