this is what my dreams consist of in the weeks before christmas:
cookie designs.
i've been dreaming up these birds for the past week. mama went out and bought the very thinnest piping tip available so that i could carry out my vision -- she's so supportive of my dreams.
they aren't EXACTLY what i had in mind (do artistic ambitions ever turn out exactly as they were imagined? mine dont...) but i'm happy with them. originally i had wanted them just to be decorated with fine, delicate feathers, but then i found that the bird shapes that i had cut were all really too small for that idea. so i just went freestyle and doodled patterns and designs on them. i like that they turned out a little dutch-y.
happy christmas, dear friends and readers! i hope you are all in a place that makes you very happy, surrounded by people you love. xo, k.

Those are the greatest cookies ever...really! They're gorgeous, and make me wish is was December 20th so I had time to make a batch before Christmas Dinner!
beautiful!!!!!!
you certainly continue to amaze and impress, ms. cez sucre chez!!!
xo, hezzzaaaaaahhh, they look yummy!
oh - i'm so in love with these.
Ooh! You need to embroider these! Make little bird ornaments.
Maybe on felted wool..
thanks so much for the compliments, ladies (and, um, maybe gents, if any of you anonymous commenters happen to be male...)! anna -- you've read my mind... depending how things go and what is up with trends and such, i do believe that these will be the inspiration for ornaments next year! the family's reaction to these cookies was funny -- at first no one would eat them because they were "too pretty," but then my 2 and a half year old niece went for them - and apparently REALLY likes gingerbread cookies. i took the leftovers to a boxing day party and was happy to see the plate empty less than halfway through the night!
